COURTNEY DAVIS
COLLABORATIVE DESIGNER
01 about
I'm a Master of Interior Architecture Student at Arizona State University, and I expect to graduate in spring of 2019. As a designer and artist, I believe that good design really does change the world. I'm fascinated by the impact of the spaces we inhabit, and their potential to create a more functional, supportive, healthy, and just society. I have been a member of an ensemble theatre company for over a decade, whose focus is community engagement through art, and civic practice. I also owned an interior design and styling business in Chicago, before entering graduate school to pursue Interior Architecture.

03 practice
I am passionate about creating spaces for people.
I believe we can only be experts about ourselves, so with the skills I gained as a theatre maker and teaching artist, I develop and implement community engagement strategies that then inform my design practice. I strive to listen well, and cultivate strong relationships with clients.
I elected to join the Design and Arts Corps program at ASU, which allowed me to work with clients such as Chrysalis Shelter, serving survivors of domestic abuse. I then spent a portion of my graduate internship renovating both a transitional apartment unit and creating the furniture plans for the shelter itself.
I believe that even small projects can have a big impact, and when we invest in our communities we all reap the rewards.
